Welcoming Malaika Smith
Malaika, a 1st generation Liberian American, brings a unique cross-cultural perspective and passion for serving under represented communities to The Bridge for Youth. As an advocate for youth and women’s rights, she founded an international grass roots nonprofit organization, Faithful Ambition in 2010, focused on empowering young women through financial sustainability, and in 2017 was selected as a Humphrey Policy Fellow where she was instrumental in authoring a bi-partisan white paper on Minnesota prison reform. Very active in the nonprofit sector, she serves as a board member on various local nonprofits board of directors and committees in the Twin Cities area.
Malaika holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of St. Thomas, a master’s degree in Non Profit Management, and a MBA from Hamline University. Malaika is an avid traveler, a movie buff, enjoys working out, salsa dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
